Capsicum Oil Warning

Pure capsaicin can be dangerous. Capsaicin is the active component in chili peppers that gives them their heat. In its pure form, it is extremely potent and can cause serious harm if ingested, inhaled, or if it comes into contact with the skin or eyes.

Here are some potential dangers associated with pure capsaicin:

1.   Skin Irritation: It can cause severe burning and irritation upon contact with skin.

2.   Eye Injury: If it gets into the eyes, it can lead to intense pain, redness, and even temporary blindness.

3.   Respiratory Issues: Inhalation of capsaicin can cause coughing, sneezing, and difficulty breathing, as it can irritate the mucous membranes in the respiratory tract.

4.   Gastrointestinal Distress: Ingesting pure capsaicin can lead to severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

5.   Toxicity: While the body can handle capsaicin in moderate amounts found in food, concentrated doses can be toxic and potentially lead to systemic effects.

Due to its potency, handling pure capsaicin should be done with caution, using appropriate protective equipment, such as gloves and goggles.
